Female writer: Laura Gallego (1977-)

WHO IS SHE?
She is a Spanish author of juvenile literature, specializing in fantastic themes. He studied Spanish Philology at the University of Valencia and in 1999 he won the prize "El Barco de Vapor" with "Finis Mundi". Three years later he returned to obtain the same award with "The Legend of the Errant King". Currently his published work comprises twenty-seven juvenile novels and some children's stories, with more than one million copies sold only in Spain and translations into sixteen languages, among which are Valencian, Catalan, Romanian, French, Polish, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Hungarian, English, Italian, German, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese ... In 2011 he received the Cervantes Chico Prize for the whole of his work, and in 2012 he was awarded the National Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature by his novel "Where the trees sing."
He started writing at age 11. She and a friend of hers started writing a fantasy book, it was called "Zodiac, a different world". That book was never published, but she already knew that she wanted to be a writer. He published his first novel at 21 years old. "Finis Mundi" was the first book he published. Since then he has continued to write and publish books. He finished his career and did a PhD, specializing in medieval literature and books of chivalry.

WHAT HAS SHE WRITTEN?
His most popular works among young readers are “Chronicles of the Tower”, “Two candles for the devil”, “Where the trees sing”, “Wings of fire”, “The Book of Portals” and, especially, the trilogy “Memoirs of Idhun”.

She is an incredible Spanish writer of juvenile literature. She won the prize "El Barco de Vapor" with "Finis Mundi". In 2011 she received the Cervantes Chico Award for the whole of her work, and in 2012 she was awarded the National Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature for her novel "Donde los árboles cantan".
